The maples are really colorful in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie valley right now. Get out this week to see them, preferably on a sunny day. Note that there may be up to a one hour delay getting past the construction area at the bluff at mile 3. They stop working around 6 pm, so try and delay your return past that time.

I thought they had paved the entire way up to the campground...wasn't there a celebration and talks of a shuttle in the newspaper

It's almost all paved, except for a 100 yard section next to a bluff. Blasting that cliff away to widen the road there has been a major ongoing project. It looks like the blasting is done now - the construction crews are finishing the road bed and I imagine it will be paved soon.

I checked out the road after the big rain Sat/Sun. The river peaked at 22,500 cfs so the forecast was pretty accurate. The peak was at 1:30 am Sunday so I wasn't able to get photos from that time. But the next day I did get some photos of the bright yellow big leaf and vine maples lighting up the road side.
Fall colors near Wise Creek Bumps in fall colors Hell Hill pit in fall colors Puzzle Creek with yellow leaves and some flow Dingford falls, going pretty good

Thanks for the info! I have still never been down the MF road, either before or after the paving. This might be a good time to go and check it out.
So is construction going to be happening both days this weekend?
**Edit, never mind on that question- I looked it up and I see the construction is only Monday-Friday, it won't be on the weekend.

One advantage (of few) I guess to having a M-F full time job... Avoiding the construction.

I drove from Portland to Seattle yesterday and am positive that this is the peak of the fall color! I kept having †o remind myself to watch the road!
Enjoy the brilliant colors and the sunshine while they last! Winter is coming.
Photography hint--the colors are so much brightter for the camera lens when backlit by the sun.

Those pics are amazing. I have yet to get that far into the middle fork area. That's one of my goals for next year. I assume that's Williams Lake? What is the picture in the other area?

The good news: the road by the bluff has been paved. Hopefully, there will be no more one hour weekday construction delays.
The bad news: the maples are past their peak, color-wise.
