Nick, Dave and I climbed Round today. We met up in Lynnwood at 5:30, and were hiking about 2 hours later. The winter route is mostly pleasant, no brush.
shortly after leaving the road first bit of snow a nice spot
I think we probably put snowshoes on around 3200 ft, but that could be wrong. Breaking trail was easy down low, but became very taxing near the summit. We traversed a few open slopes, and the snowpack seemed really stable.

We took turns breaking trail, but Dave did more than his share. Thanks Dave! We topped out around 10:45 if memory serves, a little over 3 hours after leaving the car. Im sure views would have been awesome, but we were socked in.

It was freezing on the summit, so after a quick bite, we headed out. The descent was fun.

Nice! Was the access road in pretty good shape? Some people may be interested in using your freshly broken trail tomorrow.

Should be no problem for most cars.

When you say you used the winter route, you are referring to the way up from the south via Swede Heaven, correct? (rather than the trail from near Segelsen Pass).

Our intrepid group of 5 and one canine made the trek today. 4 hours up and 3 hours down. Stunning views from up there. The stats say 3800' gain and 6.6 miles RT.

Some more people are likely headed up there today so you started a rush on Round. Some of your original track has been obliterated by snow bombs and we saw that you guys dropped off in the bowl to gain the ridge just below the summit. We followed Josh and his bro's tracks straight up the ridge (one of whom needs santa to get him some snowshoes ). We skirted two rocky sections on the left.
Snow conditions are good but it's starting to firm up enough that crampons may be needed in a few days.
A few more views from the day.
The walking starts here. Taking a break at a level spot. Snowshoes on at 3800.' The final slopes to the top of Round. Baker. Saltwater views.

More pics from a summit that looks everything but round once you reach the saddle and get views of the climb ahead.
And yes, the summit is round and the views are outstanding.

Went up Round today. The views are still great. Bootpack should be in until the next storm, put on snowshoes around 3800 or so. Snow seemed almost springlike up high.
