I have MSR evos and now wish i had the Ascent model (with the fold up metal clip below the heel to make uphills easier. It sure feels like there's an easy way to put a block or something in the same spot; So has anyone tried and succeeded in modding their EVOs?

In the dark misty past of the '80s tele skiers used to address this issue with a piece of PVC pipe and a bit of bungee cord. 2 inch diameter pipe 2 inches long with a hole drilled through. Bungee threaded through and knotted. Length of bungee such that it could be slid over the boot and carried around the ankle on flats and when skiing downhill. On the up , position the pipe under the heel with bungee tension holding it in place. It worked, but once heel plates with climbing wires became available, this jury rigged heel post faded quickly.
