I ran into those two drunk hunters on my way up the mountain--probably 10:30-11am.

So? Hunting is a sort of vacation for many folks.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Any responsible gun owner knows that mixing alcohol with firearms is not a good idea.

So glad to see this forum is turning into Chico and Treeswarper's personal political blog. If you can't handle that the world is leaving you behind, maybe try to catch up instead of screaming in fear from the sidelines?

Unsafe shooting leads to trouble--no joking here. This happened last summer. The Cispus Verdict

My, this has been interesting. The public land originally under discussion is the Wenas wildlife area. Paid for by hunters and shooters (license fees, Pittman-Robertson funds, etc) and IIRC acquired in some land swaps too. Bottom line is that the Wenas wildlife area has been and will remain open to recreational shooting. That said, there is no excuse for unsafe shooting, drinking while hunting/shooting, or being boorish and stupid with (or even without) a gun in hand. Having had an experience or two with twerps who didn't care for my presence on public land during a hunting season, with a gun in hand, there are invariably two sides to every story. If you encounter someone who is shooting irresponsibly on public land, report them. Get a license number, any information possible, and provide it to the authorities. Resist the temptation to confront people like that. wink.gif

Now, a footnote. If they were in the act of packing out a deer or elk, and you were not overburdened, the neighborly thing to do is to help pack it out. Sometimes you will be rewarded with a bit of the meat. up.gif Yummins!

No one needs to go even go to a city park anymore. Just hop on a treadmill and use your smart phone or tablet to look at Google image pictures of the outdoors. Pros: Fewer carbon emissions because you aren’t going to/coming from trailheads via car. Less impact on the environment. Cons: None!
