Lucky in the weather once again, my daughter and I went out on our annual Ipsut Creek (except last year, different spot) hike with a recurring theme: sunny skies after recent snow. There are just a few spots on this trail that get direct sunlight this time of year, but the easy hike through old growth forest is always a treat. Just before the Ipsut Creek campground, there is a new branch of the river that washed out the trail. After a futile attempt to 'schwack through the woods, we decided it wasn't worth the effort so turned around and made room on an old picnic table for lunch, which included a thermos of hot chocolate....which I carried, of course. My daughter now lives in LA, and this chance to hike in snow and cold and suck in the air is always a treat for her. A few weeks ago I went to visit and run a half marathon with her, with smoky skies and temps around 80, easy to appreciate the difference I think. Happy Holidays to all!

Followed your pair of snowshoe tracks today in just boots.  Thanks for the path!

The washout threw me off for a moment and wasn't sure if a reroute was just blocked by the fallen trees.  Wasn't worth the effort with the blow downs covered in snow to get around either.
