Had a nice Christmas at my in laws in Montana. Warmest it got was 20 degrees. Coldest was zero. Perfectly pleasant.

My wife’s sister’s family came back to Silverdale with us and yesterday I had the opportunity to take my brother in law on his first ever trip in the Olympics. Great opportunity for him to try out the snowshoes he got for Christmas. Couldn’t ask for better conditions.

Cars are required to carry chains on the Hurricane Ridge Road all winter. Whether or not you actually need to use them, of course, depends on day-to-day conditions. https://www.nps.gov/olym/planyourvisit/upload/Hurricane-Ridge-Road-Tire-Chain-FAQ-Dec-2010.pdf If I were in a sour mood I definitely would have done a "lmgify" on this one...

we were up there sunday. most of the road was icy. Did not need chains...but the ranger checked/asked every single car to make sure they all had chains. It was packed with people up on top. No wind. Nice and sunny with a perfect temp.
