Did Mud Springs Canyon yesterday with Yannick and company. 8 rappels plus some class 3 and 4 scrambling. I was the only one who bothered to detour for Mountain Spring Peak. Avoiding all the potholes in the narrows was somewhat challenging, but most of us were able to stay dry. This was my first time making a rappel off of a "meat anchor" using a "soft start", essentially just somebody sitting in the sand. I have also done a fair amount of cairn rappels in the last few weeks. It's interesting to note the different techniques between mountaineering and canyoneering. Some of the standard canyoneering procedures might be frowned upon in the mountaineering perspective.
