I was taking down fire restriction signs in a foot of snow yesterday in Idaho.

For those with more experience in the North Cascades National Park than I do - any chance of the new snow between 5000' and 6500' disappearing by the end of the month with the incoming warmer weather, or is it here to stay?
(I ask because I'd planned a hike at the end of the month around Berdeen that has a short section over a small glacier, but with end-of-season conditions I'm not sure I'd want to do that if there's fresh snow as well, even with crampons and axes).
Thanks from a BC boy! |

A mere four inches in the Okanogan Valley. It was just right for the Yooper scooper
-------------- What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities |

Its coming with some hefty westerly winds too... on top of good sliding layer from the recent clear nights.
The wind slabs on easterly aspects are going to be massive this weekend. |

oh and before I give anyone the wrong impression... non-easterly aspects will still have plenty of storm snow on a probable sliding layer, especially if they can avoid the wind. |

Was sunny earlier but it just started snowing here in Burien. I don't think it'll last long though, the clouds look pretty broken up. It's not even that cold.
What's with the newscasters all saying "coldest air of the season?" My dog's water bowl wasn't even frozen this morning and it has been several times earlier this season...

Back to sunny now, but with a blustery North wind which usually means cold air on the way.

56" at Lookout Pass from Thursday night through Monday morning. Not HUGE, but still quite significant.
