The body was found at the 4,500-foot level in the Nisqually drainage below Paradise
That's a pretty tough spot to be in

Yeah, and I think I can imagine how he ended up there, I'm guessing that the visibility was bad. Heartbreaking.

A little more information from the News Tribune: Appears as though he died in a fall There are steep slopes above so either a fall or an avalanche seemed most likely.

It was a bluebird day, with some off and on gusty wind. Very few people above ~8000 feet and up to Muir. Condolences to his friends and family, his Rainier partner must be devastated.

It is as though I had read a divine text, written into the world itself, not with letters but rather with essential objects, saying: Man, stretch thy reason hither, so thou mayest comprehend these things. Johannes Kepler

FWIW: Back in the '70s I was returning from crevasse rescue practice on the Nisqually when my climbing partner and I encountered a hiker with a fractured ankle at the base of some of those steep slopes above the Nisqually -- He had slipped on firm snow from the top of Glacier Vista. Fortunately for him -- he managed to stay sliding on his butt and didn't tumble when striking rocks and crushing his ankle. If he had tumbled and struck his head, I think would have been involved in a recovery instead of a rescue. Condolences to the hiker's family and friends. Very sad.
