There is a nice pullout on the north side of SR 20 just as you get to Bacon Creek. It had a larger pullout at one time but has been barricaded off and may have had a trail up the creek from that point. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks Newt

I know what you're talking about. Probably old roadbed / gravel pit or something to that nature.

I had taken a quick 1/4 mile hike in and it didn't look like an old road. More like and overgrown trail of sorts. Newt

Forest Service maps (1914-1953) show that the main trail and road were located on the east side of Bacon Creek. Bacon Creek at one time was the site of a homestead, railroad crossing, ranger station and campground. It seems likely that an informal trail could have been developed that was used to access the west side of Bacon Creek.

As far as I know those that have gone into berdeen have do so running the ridges and NOT thrashing up the creek. TB

Anyone know the current state of the old road up the east side of Bacon Ck? It used to go way up there. Last I heard maybe only 4 miles, less now.

Bacon creek is listed as major flood damage. You can check out other forest road conditions here: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mbs/conditions/road_conditions_report.shtml
