Her book The Olympic Rain Forest was what opened my eyes to the symbiotic relationship between the Roosevelt Elk and the landscape in the Queets Valley, something for which I shall always be in her debt.
Every time I walk that stretch of trail between Harlow and Bob Creek I think of those passages in that book.
She left us all an awesome gift with her writings.
