We ran into impassable snow 3/4 of mile prior to the trailhead so parked and walked from there. Snow from start to summit. In the lower trees snow was compact and we just used our spikes. But totally different story when we broke out of the trees - mushy deep snow up to our hips. Snowshoes on! Continued on but snow was a bit of a workout (very slushy/slick). Zero tracks once we broke out of the trees so we followed our GPS track from our previous years trekking up in the snow (route finding and avalanche awareness required).
Made it to the summit with the classic beautiful Townsend views. Enjoyed snacks and sunshine before heading back down. Our guess is after this warm week that small amount of road snow will melt and you will be able to drive to the trailhead.
