That last bit of road is very rough. High clearance recommended or use caution. My wife drove, I walked and pitched rocks.

You're full of sh##.
Jim was one of the nicest guys I've ever met and the guy who bought his place after he died is reasonable as well. Don't dust them out and don't have problems.
Have I offended you today?

Lots of good hikes in the Yakima valley area right now. So many to choose so little time before the heat melts the upper elevation snow and brings out the valley rattlesnakes.

I think I've only been up Black Canyon once without seeing rattlesnakes. I've seen as many as three or four. Had one that refused to move off the trail......

Hi all,
I am trying to find the correct and best directions to reach the Black Canyon TH. There are not directions listed on the WTA write up for the Black Canyon hike. I have Best Desert Hikes by Bauer/Nelson and 55 hikes in Central WA by Spring/Manning both with different direction options. We will have an average clearance car. Can someone list the best directions here or direct me which to follow?
Thanks,
Carrie

If you use the Search feature for Trip Reports and type in "Black Canyon" you will see numerous reports (some for other "Black Canyons"). But among these reports you will see Ragman and Rodman's report. He has excellent driving directions and even a map with photos here. The last section of road may cause you to park sooner.
