Can't seem to find reliable info on bringing dogs to lookouts overnight...I've seen some lookouts that have rodent poison put out and can see that being problematic for a dog...any info on the situation?

Park Butte LO has a sign that warns about the poison being used in the lookout.

Hmmm, trying to imagine getting my dogs into a lookout to begin with. When Jack was young he might have been able to climb the ladder (he got pretty far up a ladder to a friend's tree house not long after I first got him) but there's no way Clyde's getting up a ladder and at 65 lbs for Jack and 100 lbs for Clyde, they're a bit too heavy to carry.

Yeah, didn't think about the ladder aspect. I think she would be fine with a little coaxing/dragging.

Cats are really a lot better at ladders. You can train a cougar to walk on a leash, it only has to be voice trained.

Depends which lookout. I've slept in Hidden Lake Peak Lookout, which was pretty awesome, with 1 dog. The other party that night was another dude and his dog. Might be different on a crowded summer weekend or if someone objects. I did carry my tent just in case. Cheers!

I have a dog as seen in my picture, and love to hike with him. I however would never stay a night in a lookout with him because the person who wants to stay next may have a bad dog allergy. If your dogs hypoallergenic then maybe. But just be respectful to others and bring a tent to sleep in if you want to bring a dog.

I brought Daisy the dear departed wonder dog to Park Butte for an overnighter three times. I always brought a blanket to cover the bed, and swept the place out before leaving. The most recent time, mid-August of 2011, the snow was deep starting at 4,000 ft!
