My daughter and her boyfriend were home this weekend and wanted to do a hike so having been up Mills Canyon several weeks ago on a thruhike I noticed only 4 rock roses at the time and figured they would be out in mass now so we did that as a quick short notice trip. The area was hammered from the recent heavy rains and hail and the flowers took a real beating as did the road grade but while it didn’t turn out to be the usual show it was still a good time and hopefully some sun will revitalize the yet to have peaked flowers. Pics HERE
The flowers especially the rock roses were mostly beat down, petals torn and dirty but many had not even fully bloomed yet there was an abandoned SUV in the middle of the road sideways with a flat tire maybe they got caught in the storm.
