We did our annual spring recon trip into the Eastern Olympics. Forecast was mostly cloudy with chance of showers. We got that as well as hail, full on rain and a dump of snow... A good reminder to be prepared for anything in the mountains. The road is in great shape. Only 2 cars at the trailhead. A handful of blowdowns along the trail all easily negotiated.

There were melted out campsites in the lower meadow, the ones around the lake are still snow covered. FF

Snow starts just before the lower meadow. Didn't need the spikes hiking up but did put them on for the descent - mostly for the logs and boardwalks which were now slick with wet snow. FF
