TRIP REPORT VIDEO + TIMELAPSES This memorial day weekend Lacey and I headed to the Chelan Mountains with the intent to camp on a spot we scouted via google maps (off trail). The snow report said the area was clear of snow all the way to Pyramid Mountain TH. However, the snow was not gone (it decided to melt everywhere except for the road). The snow blocked the road out about 8 miles from the Pyramid Mountain TH on the FS roads. So we decided to walk up a little knob ahead of where we parked that was the Junior Point campground. Junior Point seems like a 5 star front country camping site. Since the road was closed from snow we were the only ones in the area so we had what is probably a SUPER popular front country site all to ourselves. We set our tent up right on the Junior Point observation area (great views). Awesome camping but the wind was killer. WIND, WIND and more WIND! Didn't get around to getting the foam on my mic for the camera but maybe next time! Had nice views of Glacier Peak and the Rainbow Montains + Lake Chelan. Super cool little out of the norm of us hiking into an empty 5 star front country site! The road is really in poor condition. Heavy ruts and big rocks. High clearance and smaller wheelbase recommended. Saw some people on the road with cars but I guarantee you they bottomed out and damaged the vehicle driving this road. There are unavoidable severe level changes and you'd have to be getting out of the car every 100 feet to clear the rocks out of the road that won't make the small clearance of a car.

What a great spot to camp, right on the foundation of the former lookout. I don't recall the road being poor, but that was in summer more than a decade ago that we car camped there. You have a great tele of Glacier Peak! (imo the second best volcano in the range).

Passing rocks and trees like they were standing still
