You wouldn't just walk around either end, why? The lake is clearing out. Needs fish.

Not pea soup,
Heh. Only Steve kinda called me out. I didn't say it wasn't pea soup lake. Just not pea soup. Curious if the time of year has anything to do with it as well. Seems earlier in the year some silt might run off and churn up in the spring, then settle down by august?

I hear ya. It's still active. Quite active, actually. But this too shall pass.

Nope. It hasn't been the color of pea soup for at least 25 years.

I didn't check on this post for a while but it looks like it got some attention! I think I will save the Daniel summit for an approach from Peggy's pond like normal. This route seems best used early season by skiers. I'm posting to thank you for the idea of making this the start of a hike that ends in necklace valley. This sounds like a great idea! Another Unrelated hike I was planning is a hit list of my favorite lakes beginning w rampart spectacle and glacier lake. car to rampart to glacier lake involves crossing east Alta ridge which looks dangerous. This way I can still catch la bohn etc lakes while seeing some new ones. Thanks! Btw do you know the e Alta ridge I'm talking about and have you crossed it? The grass slope on the rampart lake side looks freakysteep viewing it from Alta peak to me.

It gets done by several parties each year on foot and on ski. Lynch Glacier is a Mountaineers basic climb. B00 has led it. There's a rather chossy route to access the glacier from climber's left (E) side when the lake is melted out.

I have rafted across the lake and ascended Lynch Glacier. If you land on the east side of the terminus, traverse as you ascend to the west side of the glacier. The worst crevasses are right below the west peak and the bergshrund which changes every year can be an issue.
