This was a hike I put off doing for years due to the longer length & hot slope you have to climb on the way back out. But finally i just bit the bullet & went ahead & scheduled it. Surprisingly, I had more takers than usual. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves but were certainly happy when it was overwith.
The goal was to reach the marine memorial located another mile or so beyond Cottonwood Creek, but we were thwarted by poison oak so we turned back early. No tears were shed though, since this would be a long enough hike as it was.
