The Brothers 6842'
On Saturday morning, I got a later start than I wanted but started hiking the Lena Lake trail at 9am. The parking area was already full of people heading to the lake. The trail is in great shape and I was happy to leave the packed trail after rounding the lake.
As I hiked the East Fork trail, I noticed that what I thought should be a roaring creek, was a dry creek bed. It was a little confusing to me since it's spring. After about a half mile or so, the creek appeared, it must go underground before emptying into the lake. There is some new blowdown in the area but it is short lived. I kept hiking towards "the valley of silent men" and saw what must be the climber camps. I crossed the creek on a nice log and continued on a boot path heading West.

the boot path is pretty easy to follow and I was soon in the burn area. The path is tougher to follow but one is there. Beyond the burn, snow started and I put crampons on for the start of the climb. I could see another parties boot tracks from a little earlier here and there. I reached the end of the snow and traversed on some easy slabs to the rib to the East. More snow and I headed up the South chute veering a little left. I ran into the other party as they were heading down.

I finally ran out of snow a couple hundred feet below the summit. I gained the ridge and scrambled up and down a few times to reach the top with no views. Another summit looking inside of a cloud.

I headed back down and found a couple other groups setting up camp for a summit try the next day. I made it back to the TH at 5:45pm
Although I didn't get the summit views, I'll be happy everytime I see that Peak from the Seattle area. It was nice to be able to climb one of those Olympic skyline peaks.

looks like the views we had when we were up there. and, better than today's views from nearby peaks. at least you didn't waste a hwy 20 day with those kind of views.

No goats? When I went up there we stashed our ice axes for the summit scramble and a stubborn goat wouldn't let us retrieve them on the way down. We had to finally toss some rocks his way to get him to move along as he was apparently attracted to the salt on the leashes.

That's the view I had when I was up there. Quite the reward for all that work.

Very fine! Too bad you had only cloud to see.
I think The Brothers was my first climb, in 1963.

Spent the night on the side years ago we made a little flat spot where the guy in the video is standing at minute 2:12.
