I went up the old Mount Lincoln way trail yesterday. Flicked on tick of my pants leg. Went home did a tick check and found one bit my shoulder. Yuck.
Hiked up a powerline a couple of day ago an flicked on tick off me and lost count of how many I flicked off my dog.
I did a 9-day river trip in Idaho earlier this summer on the Middle Fork and Main Salmon. No surprise to find ticks in Idaho, but it was interesting that we encountered WAY more ticks at popular camps & attractions (hot springs, pictos, etc.) than at lesser used areas. Our theory was that more humans meant more spilled food & crumbs, which will support a larger mouse population. The mice play host for the ticks... at least until the summer crowds arrive. Probably not an original idea, but it seems plausible.
