After running into you on Saturday, I headed up the Wallace Vista road on my run on Sunday. I got to the slide at 2250 ft and turned around. I wasn't moving fast enough to get in the mileage I wanted to tackle the blowdowns. I also ended up going up the old Wallace River basin road about 1.4 miles, just after it turns north and then back east. I turned around again because progress was slow. The path was subtle in places, but I certainly appreciated it as far as I went.
I plan to go back to both roads this summer. I want to hit Nina, Pinta and Zeke's. I also want to at least go to the end of the Wallace River basin road, then maybe see about a route up toward Ragged Ridge, but that's much lower on my list for this year.

Good to hear from you, Brian. I forgot to tell you that I was on NWHikers, but I see that you connected the dots and figured it out.

Nina? PInta? I'm intrigued.
I finally 'discovered' Lake Stickney last fall, after a few solo attempts where I did not leave enough early enough and had to adhere to a hard turnaround time. Most of my exploring up there has been on the north side. That north side contains a lifetime of routes/features to explore.
I've looked at maps and aerials and even plotted a point by point compass route up the south side of Stickney Ridge to the Rose Lake area. I've yet to steal enough time from all my tasks and business to make an honest attempt. Because of my schedule (working sort of freelance/on-call for 3 different companies, family commitments, and my other hobbies) I often go on short notice/planning solo trips.
I'd love to try this with someone who knows the south slope a bit better, or at least is willing to see a decades old decommissioned and overgrown logging road and think "This looks like a viable trail. Let's try it"
For too many years I gazed at the Cascades and other mountains as they taunted me and I said "...Someday..." Now I find I'm running out of somedays...

A while back, one of our NWHikers posted something about going up Rose Creek to Rose Lake. It’s in the archives somewhere.

I made it up to Rose Lake last year. There was a fair bit of bushwacking, but not too horrible. Lots of bear scat up there when I went, but it was the height of huckleberry season. Here's the link to my gps track on strava.

On topic. I went up the Wallace Vista Road on Saturday. It's a lot more open and easier to travel up higher. I made it to the end, then continued up the ridge to a little over 4100ft. I hadn't planned on going after the peaks, so when it started to get quite steep and a little slippery from the unexpected rain, I turned back. I'll go back another time.

That’s awesome, Brian. Did you get any decent views from 4,100 feet? BTW,
we were up at One Acre Lake today and there is still 5+ feet of snow at the same elevation, 4,100 feet, only on the other side of Stickney.

There was one spot with a peak-a-boo view of Stickney down a little from there. It's pretty well tree covered up there.

I also don't remember running into water again after that creek by the 2nd to last switchback.
They weren't very well defined in the duff, but I'm pretty sure I followed a bobcat's tracks for a while. It looked like it periodically pawed at the ground to get comfortable to sit and watch for prey.
