Got a new pack and unfortunately can no longer attach my 4/3 in case to my hip belt like I used to. Can’t find the post right now, but remember someone else had some sort of quick release setup that you mounted to the shoulder strap. So what is that setup called as my guesses in google aren’t coming back with much?

Op/tech sells many different straps that you can customize to your needs. Kenmore Camera or Glazers sell them or online.

The Peak Capture is probably what you are thinking of. I have used one for a few years (the older 'Pro' version) and absolutely love it. You can find the older version (Peak Capture Pro) for a few bucks less than the newest version

I use a waist pack while wearing my backpack. u43 and two lenses go in there, plus PLB, maps, compass, TP, snacks, etc.

Much appreciated. Tomlike I think you nailed it. Thanks Schroder and Pcg for the other options.

I use the Peak Capture clips too. I've found them to be adaptable between very different packs and confortable to wear. I don't think I would wear my full-frame DSLR with a zoom for a 20-miler but it's easy to carry my smaller DSLR and m4/3 bodies all day.

I have gravitated to using a sling style carry for hiking with packs and M4/3 cameras.
Either using a sling carry of an ancient LowePro holster pack, or my very favorite that works better with longer lens with lens hood in place, the very lightweight and comfortable Kata LightTri-310DL

Ok have been playing around a bit. Thanks for the suggestion Boot up tried it out and it works well (actually a whole lot better than I thought it would), but still thinking I might like the capture quick release better. I like the idea of a non bouncing/moving camera and that was the reason did not go with the Optech straps as well. Have not used this setup so the bouncing might be just my imagination. The fanny pack around waist just could never figure out how to make that work, and be comfortable. Will look around while on the trail, and quiz someone using that setup.
Bit of sticker shock as the capture cost me $70 from B&H photo, but I got version 3 which is supposed to be slimmer and 30% lighter (still weights 3oz) than version 2. It will arrive on Friday so hopefully will have good things to say about it.
For those that are currently using the capture how do you protect your camera from dust. In the past I either had the camera in a zip lock when strapped around my neck for a prolonged period or in the case on my backpacks belt.

For simple protection of the camera, just get a cheap shower cap. The elastic helps grip the camera, easy to remove to take a photo, all good.

I use this Stabilizer Strap with the Optech Reporter straps. Slip the camera out, shoot, slip it back in. Easy. No bouncing.
