oh boy.
just can't wait to read the comments when the Seattle Times runs the story.
no doubt somebody will figure out a way to exceed the stupidity of the antics earlier today in Washington DC.
"I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each."

This is too close to home. But they never attack people so we are told....
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

You are so bright to raise alarm. There was a fatal wolf attack in the US in 1900. You remember that don't you?

You bet I'm going to believe the fear mongering. Wolves are similar to dogs and I expect will act like dogs. There just aren't enough of them yet to make an impact. It's easy for you to poke fun when you live across a mountain range from the problem. Convince me that my dog won't be killed should we stumble into a pack territory.
Can't wait till grizzlies are dumped here.
I would not be surprised if the FS just closes down the area of the incident.

Annnnnd we're off!!!!
Stupidity has the lead so far but "liberal bias" is nipping at is heals (pardon the pun).
To summarize up to this point,
1. Why can't we annihilate anything that might hurt me or my pets?
2. Why can't we return to the old days when everything was in perfect balance?
FLAME ON!

speaking of stupidity....
okay, here you go... no comments yet, but they're sure to start appearing soon:
wolves chase woman up a tree story in the Seattle Times July 13, 2018 at 7:16 am
curiously, this one tags the location as Loomis - that's quite a ways from the other places mentioned in the other articles.
"I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each."

Most of those attacks are by the family dog. So I guess you're most likely to be attacked by the family wolf or bear than a wild one?

Were the wolves behaving aggressively or did she just freak out because wolves were near? Articles are a bit scant on details.

I don't see anywhere in those articles that the wolves "chased" the researcher up a tree or were aggressive.

.. and the article wonders out loud if there was a den or kill site nearby. I have a trip planned to Horseshoe Basin soon, so if I get eaten by wolves, my tent and slightly chewed sleep pads will be donated to charity.
