This one has been on my list for years. I wanted to get an earlier start to beat the temps and the crowds, so I spent Friday night in Squamish. I made to it the already-full TH around 8:45am Saturday morning.
After 0.1 miles of flat terrain, the trail starts heading upward. Then it really starts heading upward. The trail is quite rough, with much of it looking like this:
About halfway, the trail crosses a giant talus field, followed by a brief flat portion, before getting back to business.
A woodpecker was hard at work.
The last 600 feet or so involve climbing up a somewhat loose, rocky gully. Oddly enough, everyone seemed to suddenly show up here at the same time, which required some patience.
Then it was just a short grunt up the rest of the slope. Before long, beautiful Wedgemount Lake came into view. The lake was quite popular, but large enough that it never felt too crowded. But the cat is out of the bag on this one (and seems to have been for a number of years now).

I continued along the shore and hiked up to a beautiful tarn right at the foot of the Wedge Glacier.

Some big cornices were hanging off of Wedge:
I went back down to the lake for lunch. After two hours of exploring the area, it was finally time to bid adieu.

The downhill journey back to the TH was painful, but I was glad to have my poles with me. Back at the car just after 430pm, then it was off to Howe Sound Brewing for food and drink before the long journey home.
