My wife and I went up to Rachel lake to get away from the heat this weekend. That worked! We left Friday after work and made it up to the slide rocks about a mile in. It was a long quiet evening listening to the rushing water and very few bugs. Early the next morning we were coffeed and tead up and on our way.
The scenery down low is low to the ground. About chest high actually, and bursting.
There were a few bigger pictures here and there.
We made it to the lake about noon and had the place all to ourselves (except for about 2 dozen tents and four dozen day hikers). But the views were still sweet.
I swam and rafted around for a couple hours and then we had dinner. Morning was still and clear.
We were on the trail about 8:30 and stopped at the water slide about 10.
We were up there in the fall about ten years ago. The place has seen a lot more use by a factor of 10 or more. Still worth the trip but get there early to get a parking spot!
