Two hikers with a baby just called for help on Mount Ellinor saying they are pinned down by Mountain goats and they are lost up in the ice. They were on their way down from the summit but say they can't move now. Mason County is responding, SAR is being called out too.

They have made it down without getting hurt.

I hiked up to Mount Ellinor last summer with several goats at the top. That was nice, at least for picture taking. But then one followed me down the trail for maybe 20 minutes. That was a little bit scary and not so nice...

Of course what the goat wanted was your pee. Nonetheless they have horns and are very strong animals. I had a one horned male want to hang out near me when I camped on Mt. Townsend a few years ago. It certainly made me uncomfortable.

Years ago we did the Eleanor to Washington traverse, the goats were so obnoxious we strung our road around our tent to keep them away at night. Interestingly it was the only time we used the rope. The goats then had large numbers painted on their sides.

I left my ice axe below the summit on the Brothers and returned to find a goat chewing on the leash to get the salt. I really needed it to get down and it wasn't going to give it up easily. Finally with the aid of some well placed rocks I convinced it to move along.

Sling shot is what you need on those occasions. Rumi

Will SAR please come rescue me in Seattle? I'm surrounded by idiots. They keep coming closer. and closer.
