Over the last number of years I have been having real problems getting decently fitting shoes. My toe box is just a little to wide for most running shoes, and if I get the wide version they end up loose and sloppy. Up to now I have replaced insoles with happy feet and gotten a reasonably decent fit with a few select shoes. Just learned that their are various different ways of lacing your shoes that can also help to dial in a perfect fit. Other examples keeping your heal in place reducing toe jamming and blisters , for high instep ect.... For some reason I have never figured this out until now. So passing on a few helpful links if you have any better ones do post.

Nice. Here are some additional ones. https://www.backpacker.com/gear/common-hiking-boot-lacing-techniques I have switched to using heel lock lacing on my boots when descending and it really does help.

From the vast amount of interest this post has generated I think we 2 are easily amused, or perhaps behind the times on shoelace techniques. I think this kind of stuff is really cool, and I’am glad it helped someone else. biggrin.gif

It's summer -- people are out. In case you don't know, you can restrict a google search to a particular site with a "site:" tag. shoe lace knot site:nwhikers.net That search brings up several similar threads with plenty of interest. https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7965326 https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8022675 https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8003696
