This is something that should be in the GW thread but is important enough that it demands a read. Hothouse Earth - Feedback systems It is obvious to those aware that things are changing very fast. Personal awareness is supported by any slew of statistical evidence. Locally, the record drought last summer, the heat records of May and July and even the record winter rains the past two years. Elsewhere, the California droughts and record SW summer heat even just looking at the past three summers, the record wildfires in California which anybody who is not a moron knows has nothing to do with the amount of water released to the ocean. Read what the head of the California department of fire management said this week. Also the record setting soil drought in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho that is going on right now. In Siberia wildfires that have not been seen in 800,000 years in the past ten years....etc. All but one or two of you are aware of these feedbacks but this article puts it all together.

Dave Ross, one of the world's most fair, lucid and intelligent commentators (imnsho), refers to the paper gb links to in today's commentary. He has this to say:
Quote:
And, not to politicize this, but it’s clear that Mother Nature is a conservative. A strict constructionist following the laws of physics to the last decimal place and perfectly willing to impose term limits on incumbent species who pretend nothing’s wrong.

Nah, just someone paying attention to the standard practice of science following proper method is all.

Can you name names of the 'unaware'? Which of us hasn't noticed these things? Be specific, after all, if you're correct there is no reason not to be.

You left out the word pretending. Anyway, I am pretty sure Watts got his experience as a televangelist.

Like you'd know it if you saw it.

I do know it when I see it. And I know for a fact, as does anyone who applies actual science, that it does not involve, or require, the use of a *single* logical fallacy *anywhere*, in any argument. This lastest bit of effluvium is merely a rehash of the same lousy arguments which have been losing traction, so they're sexed up and reissued. Science does not need or use personal attacks, correlation = causation, unquestionable Priests of Science, or 'consensus' as 'evidence'. Yet as anyone can see, these things are the the primary tools of the 'aware'.

That's nice, but you'd be on a better path to be critiquing the basis and falsifiability of the arguments on his site, rather than engaging in personal attacks. When do we get to know the names/handles of the unaware people on the site? Why post vague accusations when you can tell us openly who they are?

I'm not at all interested in arguments relying on logical fallacies, such as attacking a source. I'm interested in the actual falsification of the arguments claimed to be false. Why are you evading naming names of folks you claim aren't 'aware' ?
