We are a young couple who dedicates themselve to creating photo and video content, as well as our own music. Our content is related to travelling and adventures. We are passionate walkers who love hiking, trekking and camping. Our goal is to promote the healthy lifestyle, to motivate people to walk more and care for nature around. We choose walking over driving and other types of transportation whenever we can because we learnt that this way we see so much more and can explore and feel the place better. Also we have a Youtube channel where we're showcasing all our hikes, let us know if you would be interested if we share some of our hikes here on this forum. We would love to find and communicate with like-minded people, that's why we've joined this forum. We are excited to share with you these video series of our Mediterranean hike that we did this year and hopefully it will be continued. These video series is devoted to the Catalonian part of it, starting from the French village Argelès-sur-Mer in Pyrénées-Orientales all the way to the Spanish village of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus cape on the Costa Brava. Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation. Or even dare to do this hike yourself! It was our first major hike that we ever did, we ended up doing 80+ km and it took us 7 days to accomplish. We chose to go backpacking, carrying our tent, and stay in the camping sites on the way. This hike is great to do in spring(May-June) or autumn(September-October), as the heat in summer can be pretty extreme. We enjoyed so much doing it in the late May-beginnings of June with all the blossom and smells around along with favorable weather conditions that we would highly recommend it to everyone. The hike can be broken up in as many parts as you wish by doing as many kms a day as you can. We did on average 12-15 km a day being loaded with 10-15kg backpacks and found it to be a golden mean, but depending on your physical state you may choose to do more or less. It will also depend on whether you'll go with a heavy backpack or not. The route is very well signed and we have a very little complains about it. On the way you can either stay in the hotels, guest houses etc. or campings as we did, and became the true fans of this kind of stay. The camping sites are very developed in the area and can meet everyone's needs, not to mention the reasonable prices that is available to everyone. This kind of experience you won't forget. Also it is a good idea to stay for longer in a village that you really like to get to know it better and then continue on with the hike. The whole experience makes up for an unforgettable active trip! It was our first day of the Great Mediterranean Hike when we walked 17 km from Argeles Plage to Port-Vendres outskirts. It is all started the night before when it was raining cats and dogs and the wind was blowing fiercely. Because of that we woke up pretty late in the morning and even considered for a moment to give up on a hike because of the bad weather. But we've been already postponing this hike for so long because of that so finally we put ourselves together and started walking. Luckily the weather was favourable all day long. And even though it was the weekend we didn't met too many people on the way. The day was full of great views, different landscapes, and exceptional variety of flowers (some of them we haven't even seen before!). We enjoyed very much the route that goes from Argeles to Couilloure, it is not very long, but still offers you all the richness of landscapes of the region. We got lost several times in small villages but finally managed to find the route signs, just had to look close. There was no long gaps between the marking, they were everywhere. First, we walked through Argeles village which is by our opinion a perfect holiday destination for everybody with nice wide sandy beaches, lots of activities offered and plenty of campings to stay in. Then we entered the village of Couilloure where the architecture that surrounds you speaks for itself, it immerses you in the history and creates bohemian atmosphere. Finally we reached Port-Vendres where we had a little time to spend but our first impression was that it is an old city with quite a big port with deep waters (we've seen a cruise ship parked there) and active fishing market(we could say it by a strong smell of fresh fish). At the end of the day we were running out of time, the sun was setting and we realized that we won't get to our planned destination which was Banyuls-sur-Mer. It meant that we had to walk around 8 km more to our camping and we very already more than tired. So we had no other option left that just find a place to stealth camp. So we had to gather our powers and walk several kms more till we find a spot at a vineyard close to the seaside. It was the only place with relatively flat surface and it is the most unusual place we've camped at so far. So we quickly prepared and ate some dinner and fell asleep right away overwelmed by the first and is it turned out the hardest day of our trip. Welcome to the site. A trail is a trail is a trail, but that certainly looks like a much different experience than one would find anywhere around here. I had to look at Google maps to figure out exactly where you were in that video, and was surprised that while so much of the area appears to be developed for both residential and commercial, they had the foresight to provide for a recreational opportunity - the walking trail you are using - right along the coast (sometimes right in the midst of the development.) Similar "routes" can be made up on the fly here with a little imagination. Harvey Manning detailed many of them in his early works (i.e., "Puyallup River Hike", which I thought was a real hoot when I first read it.) Interesting to see such different flora. The seagulls are a nuisance here on the coast too, but we also have crows, which are much smarter than stupid seagulls, and they'll figure out how to get your lunch if you don't attend to matters! wink.gif

Thank you so much for your great feedback! We appreciate it a lot. Yes, I guess it's all different in different parts of the world, that's why it's so interesting to watch people from all around the world. But even here it's not common to do such long hikes as we did, most of the time people just walk little parts from town to town. We just decided to take it to another level. But that's really excellent that they have this route along the coast thanks to that we were able to do this hike even though there is no official trail there. And you can find theGoogle Earth map that you can download in the description below every video we make on Youtube. We were fascinated ourselves by the variety and richness of the flora there, the spring is a beautiful season. Seagulls and crows can be very cruel that's so true! smile.gif We will be releasing more videos this year from this trip that we'll be sharing here on this forum and you can subscribe to our Youtube channel as well to stay up to date. Thanks again for all your kind words.

Great Mediterranean Coast Hike - Day 2 | Anse de Paulilles, Banyuls-sur-Mer Hello, everyone! We continue to share with you the video series of our Mediterranean coast hike that we did this year. It was our second day. After an exhausting first day we slept very well and we woke up at a sunrise to an incredibly beautiful scenery of the little bay, swaying yacht and calm sea waters. The atmosphere was very peaceful. And in these moments you realize that nothing can compare with the wild camping spots, they are always special and memorable. That day we took it slow and with no hurry we had the substantial breakfast(luckily we had the leftover veggies from yesterday), got everything packed and finally started walking. Our plan for the day was to make no more than 7 km until our camping site in Banyuls-sur-Mer. First we walked along several beaches at the seaside, passed through some bunkers left from the World War II and got to the place "Anse de Paulilles". It looked like a public park but actually in the past this territory occupied an old dynamite factory that now is open for the visitors as well as the museum of traditional Catalan boats. Overall the whole area around the French-Spanish border has a lot of installations left from the World War II, that is part of the history but kind of sad to see in these beautiful places. After we came out of the park the path continued going along the flowery cliffs and we got to see lots of stunning views, so we enjoyed this part a lot. Finally we were getting close to the city Banyuls-sur-Mer and we were rushing to find some supermarkets open to buy some food, that unfortunately were closed after 14pm because it was Sunday. So keep that in mind that Sundays in most of the area are short days in the majority of the shops. Then we got to our camping site "Camping municipal La Pine" and found a nice cosy place to camp. This camping is situated at the outskirts of the city and part of it is in the real forest areas(with no electricity though and available only for tents), which we liked a lot, we could hear the birds singing and all the forest sounds. Fortunately we were able to buy some food at the only shop that was opened in the evening. The rest of the day we were chilling out, eating and relaxing. So we had a really good rest and the new day was waiting for us... Watch the full video here:

A question for the two of you: From the Google Earth images of those locations, it appears you are a bit off the beaten path down there right along the border between France and Spain. How did you arrange for transportation to your starting point, and how do you intend to return? I don't imagine you drove two cars down there - that would be prohibitively expensive there. Did you use some public transit system to get to your starting point? Just curious about the logistical part of the trip.

No, we personally don't have a car, so we didn't drive. The public transportation is quite good in the region. From the major city Perpignan there is a Bus called 1 euro that can take you all the way to Cerbere - the French border village. This is what we used to get to our starting point Argeles-sur-Mer. And on the way back to Cadaques we took the bus to Spanish village Llanca, and from there take the train to the French Spanish border to the village of Cerbere. From there we took this bus 1 euro once again back to Perpignan. That can seem a bit confusing but if you'll need more details we can go in more depth.

thanks! sounds like your public transportation systems there are a step above what we have here (which are dismal once you're out of the metropolitan areas.)

Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Occitanie, France | Day 3 - Nature reserve Cerbère-Banyuls Hello, everyone! We continue to share with you the Mediterranean coast hiking that we did this year. Discover the variety of landscapes and scenic beaches, its flora and fauna, historical places and small villages. These video series is devoted to the Catalonian part of it, starting from the French village Argelès-sur-Mer in Pyrénées-Orientales all the way to the Spanish village of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus cape on the Costa Brava. Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation! Or even dare to do this hike yourself! After having a really nice rest the day before in the camping La Pine we woke up to the new day all ready to hit the trail again. We had a really quiet night here listening to nightingales and we liked the camping overall. It is located on different levels with lots of space for the tents and lots of big trees so it almost feels like you're in the forest. And it was nearly empty in that season in the end of May. The morning was quite foggy and humid and it looked like it could be a rainy day which we were really afaraid about because our videocamera is not waterproof and that meant having day off shooting. We had our quinoa and salad for brealfast and were good to go. We weren't in a rush at all because of the weather and by the time we left the camping the sky started to get more clear. So the plan for the day was getting to the outskirts of the town of Cerbere almost on the French-Spanish border where our next camping site was. It was around 10 km but it's really hard to count cause we followed the most curvy route along the seaside. So we walked through the town of Banyuls-sur-Mer with its sandy coloured houses and red roofs and got out to the port area from where we could see the panorama of the whole town. We said goodbye to the town and continued to follow the yellow signed trail heading to Cerbere. It was very convenient without having to check the navigation all the time. Overall the trail is extremely well signed starting from Argeles-sur-Mer to Cerbere so we can't recommend it enough. Right at the beginning we faced an obstacle in the form of the closed gate and sign of the private property on the way. So we couldn't progress further along the coast and had to do a round following the car road. But luckily it wasn't very long and we were back on the trail after a km or so. At that moment the weather was getting overcast and it became harder to breathe. So the air felt very stuffy that made harder to walk. As we continued on we met lots of stunning scenery with the beautiful rocky cliffs and waves crushing into them, the relief was absolutely amazing. The cliffs we were going through were quite steep and high constantly forcing us to go up and down. There were lots of steps as well that were definetely killing our legs. But when you go cliff after cliff and every time it opens up to a different view you merely notice all these difficulties. Sometimes it almost felt like we were at the oceanside, so breathtaking were the places. We took our time to just sit and enjoy the view breathing the fresh salty air and immersing ourselves into this beauty. Also we enjoyed having so much greenery around with the most wonderful multicoloured flowers and plants. The variety of it was incredible. Lots of vineyards were a dominating part of landscape as well. We've noticed that there weren't too much animal variety like we used to have in the mountains, deers for instance and we started to miss them. But we think that's because it wasn't the forest environment and it's just not their habitat. So this day left lots of great memories and was for sure the highlight of the whole hike. At the end of the day a bit tired we were getting to the camping close to Cerbere and we still didn't know what challenge we'll be facing soon... Watch the full video here:

Hello, everyone! Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation! Or even dare to do this hike yourself! The night was extremely windy with the wind fiercely blowing up our tent so it was quite disturbing to our sleep. The Camping Municipal de Cerbere where we stayed was situated right at the edge of the cliff where nothing could block the wind from any side. But we tried hard to sleep as much as we could cause the long day was expecting us. We planned to pass by the town of Cerbere, crossing the border to Portbou in Spain and walk all the way to the little town at the coast Colera. So we got up really early at 6:00 am and we could met the beautiful sunrise right from the sea, had our breakfast and were ready to go. We were really hungry cause the evening before we couldn't find any open supermarket (on Mondays, you know) and our food supplies were close to zero. So we were heading to the town that was a 3 kms walk going along the cliffs. After one hour hiking we got to the town Cerbere, found the supermarket on the central square and were out to find the spot for the breakfast. We decided to walk out of the town to the lighthouse at the edge of a cliff where we hoped to find a nice place to eat. It was a scenic place with the views over the town and a nice resting area with lots of benches. And there were two options to take from the Cerbere town: one going to the peak which looked quite steep but has more potential of great views and the other one going around the mountain partly on the car road that was easier but at the same time less interesting. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw the two towns from above the French town Cerbere and the Spanish Portbou that were very similar looking with two huge railway stations. Then after a steep uphill no less steep downhill was waiting for us. On the way we had to get through lots of cactuses, spiky plants and bushes, crawling down the rocks and balancing on the little falling rocks on the trail. So with the heavy backpacks it was a very challenging task to do. But we were happy we took it because it was a unique and scenic trail going at the edge of a cliff and offering the best views possible. This challenge we'll remember for a long time. When we were getting close to Portbou the trail started to go right at the sea level and we had to jump and climb several rocks before we came out to the town beach. We didn't spend much time in Portbou and got off on the new trail leading us to Colera... Watch the full video here:

In today's video we are sharing with you Day 4 of our Great Mediterranean Coast Hike where we walked through Colera, Llançà and Selva de Mar in Costa Brava. We started our day feeling very refreshed and energized after having a nice rest at the camping Sant Miquel in Colera, Spain. We had a plan to make 15 kms to the town Selva de mar further down the coast and hoped that the relief and the weather will work in our favor. When we were leaving Colera for the first time during this hike we felt the piece of our heart was left in this place. It seemed so cosy and home-like to us and we were definetely considering going back here to stay for several days when we finish the hike. So we said goodbye to this beautiful place and started to climb up the first hill for the day. As always we were determined to go as close to the coastline as possible and go over every cliff. And so after the first hill we came down to the beach Playa de Garbet. There it was so tempting to get in the water that we almost decided to jump into it but then we realized that the shower on that beach didn't work. And hiking all day long with salty shoulders didn't seem a good idea so we had to surrender to this fact and continue hiking. During the next several kms we met plenty of stunning little beaches scattered along the cliffs that looked like a great place to chill out. But we were happy just enjoying the beautiful views and breathing the fresh salty air. The sun however was really getting at us burning our skin and striking our heads. So we were hiding and searching for the shadow all the time. Then we entered the town of Llanca where we had to do a little break in the shadow of the park. It was the best decision cause this way we could wait for the heat to come down and continue hiking in the more comfortable conditions. The sky started to cover in clouds and it saved our day. The last 7 kms we were walking on a really nice pavement route made out of rocks and it was just a perfect idyllic route for taking a peaceful walk that was connecting the town of Llanca to Selva de Mar. On the way we met a beautiful lighthouse Far de s´Aranella as well as lots of great views over Cap de Creus that was the final destination of our hike. So in a very peaceful mood but a bit tired from the heat we got to the outskirts of La Selva de Mar... Watch the full video here:
