I've been on the shelf the past two months, and am only now beginning to work my way back into shape... In the meantime, I went back to the well to dig up a couple of previously unprocessed pictures from 2016:

This was taken from the edge of the Snow Lake ice-cap (30mi square, 1mi thick, elevation 16000ft) in the heart of the Karakoram Range, in northern Pakistan. The Karakorams feature possibly the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world, with four 8000m peaks and the largest number of 7000m peaks in any range. The mountain featured in the photo is Sosbun Brakk (21,040ft tall), whose name means 'wall-of-teeth rock' in the local Balti language. Trip report link.

Fun aerial shots. Reminds me of the Guy Clark song lyric:
Quote:
The only difference between the men and the boys is the size of their shoes and the price of their toys.
Here are a few "enhanced" by smoke wafting north off the Oly Peninsula across the Strait, from Deception Pass Park's West Beach a few evenings ago (the second was being exposed while the park ranger was cruising the lot with his bullhorn telling us all to move on out for the evening).

Going back to 2013 to dig up these (previously unprocessed). 1- Masherbrum (25,659ft), aka K1, with Urdukas Peak on the right, as seen from the Baltoro Glacier:
2- K2 (28,251ft), as seen from Concordia:

Very. Unfortunately, I lost the pictures on my old laptop in a hard drive crash. Yesterday, I restored the RAW files from my backup and picked out a few previously unprocessed pictures to play with. Fun! smile.gif

Excellent photo of Masherbrum. That has to to be the ultimate challenge, has only seen a very few ascents.

Ooh, nice spot and great to see the pack dog! When I saw the weather forecast Sunday morning, which suddenly called for smoke, I nearly bailed, but after deciding I might drive elsewhere and still get smoke I plowed ahead. It was not encouraging driving up into the stinky fog around Heather Meadows. But I was there, so packed in. I was pleased to start seeing some meteors in early twilight, and got my camera firing off continual twenty second shots after the end of astronomical twilight. Sure enough there were some w/in the many hundreds captured that had meteors, and some that had climber's headlamps as they trudged in the dark to the base of the Fisher Chimneys climb on Shuksan. All muted by smoke, but it still worked.
