I just read through much of this Report. Fascinating. I was especially interested in the expanding mountain goat populations and habitats (other than the Olympics) and the very strict hunting control over it. And the apparently completely natural colonization of the state by moose populations over the last century was something I was previously unaware of. Lots of interesting numbers on big animals - 1,800-2,100 cougars in the state. Nobody knows how many black bears (another part of the website says 30,000). I didn't see a final number on total mountain goat population, but several thousand I think. 50 billion blacktail deer, but that's just here on Orcas Island.
