In which we say, "good day" to the remainder of the Pasayten. I hope hikers are safe. With everything burned, there will be less to catastrophically burn next time (I know this could mean centuries). ETA: doom and gloom aside, maybe they'll get a jump on it and it will play nice.

Is there a good map out of there of all the areas that have burnt in the last 10-20 years. On the Lady of the Lake boats there are great ones of the areas surrounding Lake Chelan. Would love to see something similar for the Pasayten.

For the Crescent Fire, they have a 20 year history map: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/map/6093/2/84334 Looks like this includes some lower reaches of the Wilderness with the McLeod Fire. The Pasayten would be a great area to do the same, maybe they'll produce it.

From the PCT Web site for WA "Pasayten Wilderness fires, Washington August 17 at 5:20 PM We have been informed by the Forest Service that the Pacific Crest Trail is likely closing north of Highway 20/Rainy Pass (mile 2,588.6) all the way to the Canadian border due to multiple fires in the Pasayten Wilderness. Do not head north of Rainy Pass/Highway 20 at this time. We understand that the closure of the northern PCT all the way to Canada is highly consequential. We will be updating this page as information becomes available."

Closure area details While the PCT is technically closed starting north of Harts Pass, we strongly recommend that you do not head north of Rainy Pass/Highway 20. The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest’s closure order includes Forest Road 54 and runs west to Ruby Creek trailhead. Northbound PCT travelers will be stopped at Harts Pass. Folks who choose to venture to Harts Pass will need to return to Hwy 20 via the PCT. It is not legal to drive to Harts Pass or hike west to Ruby Creek. As such, it is recommended that folks do not proceed north on the PCT from Hwy 20. The Holman Fire closure area is adjacent to the McLeod Fire closure. Between the two orders, all of Pasayten Wilderness from the National Park boundary in the west to Ashnola River in the east are closed to public access. Therefore, it is illegal to access the northern terminus on the U.S. side.
