The event in the desert began on Monday. The livestream seems to be pretty reliable this year. Lots to see and the nighttime activities are at times quite exciting. Runs through Monday, Labor Day.
The commentary and music for this feed can be annoying at times and yet other times informative and interesting. I generally turn the volume down and stream internet radio. Frisky Radio is often pretty good, or your own music. They have three channels. Enjoy. ~z
Just updated the link above. For some reason it quit after 8 hours. This looks live since it's now night time down there. ~z
Edit: 08/30/18-17:56 PDT. New link update. Man it's dusty down there right now.
Note: The above live streamed link stops along the way and becomes just a recorded video of the past several hours. I will try to update the links from time to time. But if the link is no longer live you can find it here on the BMORG web page.
Raising the Man. Great video interviews with the crew who designed and built the Man. This year the Man pays special tribute to Larry Harvey, the founder who died this year. ~z
The live stream appears to have ended. It may revive during the day for the Exodus (which was pretty dramatic yesterday evening). Otherwise, it's over for the year. There's a short article with lots of photos from the Burn Night--particularly the fire dancers. This appeared in the online Burning Man blog yesterday.
Quote: We honestly can’t remember a burn week so insanely beautiful. After a big blow on Sunday, the hard-baked playa lost most of its loose powder, making for the smoothest riding surface in many years. The evenings were cool but not chilly, and the days were sunny and bright, without a trace of the haze and smoke that clouded our environment for so many weeks.
It was the kind of week that leads newbies to believe that hey, Burning Man isn’t so hard at all."
The actual Burn on Saturday night was spectacular--very well done. The choreographed lighting of all the surrounding art cars and art pieces was phenomenal--mainly in blues which was Larry Harvey's favorite color. The Man was decked out in blue and white neon. See the above video up thread. But it was interesting to watch all the art cars and displays which had been a wide variety of rainbow colors all switch to blues during the actual Burn. Very nice effect. ~z
