The closure was immediately posted on the USFS web page. The road and trail closures usually get updated on this page as soon as they happen. (trail conditions aren't always updated in a timely manner, but I've found closures are. )

Thanks for that. Looks like the closures were listed Friday 8/31. Must have gone up right after I checked the website that morning. Oh well, I made the best of it. Hard to beat the Methow valley on a late summer weekend. Very little smoke around Carlton/Methow.
