Yes, my son was stung a few years ago, and his arm swelled up a bit. The next time his face and neck swelled up and I ran him to ER fast, ran several red lights, way over speed limits, etc. Staff there put him ahead of everyone in the waiting room and treated him immediately. That's how it was explained to us, you're not allergic until one time when you are. Now he carrys epi-pens everywhere. When we got him back to the house, I was going to soak the nest with Raid, etc, but he wouldn't hear of it (poisoning ground water and all that). So I read up a bit and found that several gallons of boiling water mixed with soap supposedly does the trick. It did.
