Awesome trip! I often wondered about the route up this one. I'm glad the make shift harness worked out!

That's a bummer. You two write some of the best reports. You'll be missed if you go...

Fantastic report and pix. Nwhikers will be poorer if you guys take your tr's elsewhere. I like the mix of climbing and hiking tr's.
Shovel has always been one of my fav trips in the area and your shots really brought that back.
Last time we played frisbee golf most of the way down from the outlet, some incredible throws. Looking up those huge slabs was amazing both directions (to and from Shovel).
Wappies approach reminds me of the old white chuck route for Glacier, long on the way in, and longer on the way out with hours of flat foot pounding!

Cool route. Not a summiteer myself, but that friction rock looks like fun.

Agree with Aaron. Please don't go! Just brush off negativity.

Awesome trip. I have often thought about climbing part of Bears Breast when viewing it from Waptus or watching the sun rise on it from Shovel Lakes. The view from Chain Lakes side is amazing too. Thanks for sharing

Very nice TR!
Wrong page, though.
Still, it was worth the extra clicks...

What happened?

Sometimes it's more sexism than what I can brush off. I have left a lot of places that were sexist and I know many women left NWHikers because of it. It appears to be male-dominated now with a few individuals causing a lot of damage. I have wanted to keep posting to maintain some female presence but now I am quite ambivalent. So we're thinking of maybe putting in more effort into our own website and cross-posting here.

I enjoy reading about the Chapin adventures. I'm OK with your cross posting here, cuz then I can still enjoy reading about them.

I think contributions like this are part of the reason radka is considering not posting on nwhikers any more.

Thanks Radka and and Chris for all your contributions to NWHikers over the years. I especially appreciated your support and early photo contributions a few years ago when we were trying to get the calendar contest up and running. I’ve been gone quite a bit this spring and summer so I’m not in the loop as far as knowing why you are considering leaving the site, but I would sure be sad if you made that decision.

Thanks for the report, crazy looking slab! Can you recommend any other big slabs in the Cascades in the class 2+/3- range?
I think it makes sense for someone who puts so much effort into their photography and reports to have their own website as the primary storage of your stories. Would love it if you at least cross-post links to them here at nwhikers, otherwise I (for one) almost surely wouldn't find them.
