This morning's freezing level at Quillaute is 7000', 6400' at Boeing Field, and 8400' at Spokane. Thus far there hasn't been that much precipitation but it appears that today through Sunday will be wetter and the freezing level may fall another 500-1000'. So look for white peaks as of Monday. Camp Muir this morning is 22 degrees.

Sorry, just couldn't resist mentioning a season that is coming!

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

Thanks, Gary, great to see that you too get excited about lowering snow/ski levels!

6-10 "s on baker today. go get some! clown.gif one of my favorite times of year. changing of the seasons... and the game of waiting for the impossibly deep forecasts of the point and click on volcano summits. cant wait for the first "10 feet in 3 days" forecast. i need to redial my bookmarks to winter mode.

You can always count on a snow event in Sept ... but sorry Scott ...they've usually been short lived ... so I'm still hoping for an Indian Summer. In the meantime ... yeah get out there and get the goods. Baker's forecast looks awesome.

A couple of reports referred to 6 inches of new snow - Mt. Adams (camp, not summit), Grand Pass (ONP). Also a few photos showing snow on peaks. Could be a good opportunity for the Turns All Year crowd to get in some good September turns on the Muir snowfield.

I can see Big Slide, Grindstone, Cannon Mt, Mt Cashmere from my place. All had a dusting of snow this morning circa 6500-7000' and above.

Indian summer for me begins around the last week of Sept to at least mid-Oct in the PNW ...after the usual short mountain snow event in Sept to the frosty lakes and tarns around 6000' into Oct. Mid-Oct 15
