On a recent trip I was unable to get my inReach Explorer to turn on , even though I knew it had a full charge. Plugging it into a charger got no response at all. When I got home I called tech support and, after trying a few things, was told it was not fixable. Then I went online and found a solution. I'm posting it here so others will know, if you can remember it...
Symptom: Device will not turn on and, if plugged into a charger, does not light up and indicate a charge is in progress.
Solution: Hold down the "check" key, the "X" key, and the down arrow key simultaneously for a few seconds. The device will come to life and ask you if you want to download new firmware. Either download or exit and restart.
The tech support guy had me do the "soft reset" as described in the link above and it didn't work. He gave up after. The "manual firmware update" is what did the trick.
