Grand Teton National Park officials killed a black bear this week after tourists fed it fruit from their cars.

The bear was euthanized by park staffers following the Oct. 4 incident, when "visitors in two separate vehicles along the Signal Mountain Road were observed feeding fruit to three black bears."

"The bears, a sow and two cubs of the year, each received several food rewards during the incident and made contact with several vehicles along the road," the release states.

Always use good food storage technique when in the backcountry!

Effing Idiots!

Bears killed for no other reason than the result of stupid human behavior.
I hope the idiots receive the maximum jail sentence, and maximum fine...and are banned from National Parks, perhaps even NF Land, for life.

No doubt that feeding bears kills bears.   Bears begging for food are probably already lost.

^ That might work quite well.

Hmmm. How could I have not thought of that? Two birds with one stone. Save the current bear while saving future bears.

H'mm but what about the bear's chorlestoral levels??.  I believe that "American Tourist" is very high in saturated fats.
