Has any one been on the Dry Creek trail along Lake Cushman lately? Does anyone maintain this two mile stretch? I was a fire guard there during Summer of 1953 al Nickelson

I believe Dry Creek Trail is maintained by Mount Rose Trail Crew of local volunteers. Al, it'd be great if you'd be willing to share your experiences. Was there still a shelter or fire reporting telephone on this trail? Where were you based? Maps show Brown Creek Campground and Intermount Ranger Station were then at the end of the road up the South Fork Skokomish. The Shelton Sustained Yield Unit, formed in 1946, was about to change this area...

Al, welcome. We love history around here. Spill it - we love the stories.

Rod: I can certainly respond to your request - except I am unsure how to add a document to one of these posts. How about some suggestions? Al

Kim: Can do. How do you attach a document to a post here? Should not a description of Dry Creek in the fifties be posted under "history"? Al

The Dry Creek trail is not on the list of trails maintained by the Mt Rose Trail Crew. I believe WTA may have had work partys up there this summer. I hiked the trail from Lake Cushman to the creek crossing about 3-4 one way miles early this summer and it is very passible but has drainage issues a couple miles in. The trail after the first mile or so follows and old logging road.
