^ the Capitol State Forest (administered by DNR) got its start from lands seized by tax foreclosures.

Good news. I hiked it once and thought is was beautiful even if much more crowded than my usual hikes.

im sitting in my garage with the door open listening to a chorus of at least 4 sawyers operating west of persis. i can hear the snap of the tree when it falls.. then the thud. we also get the occasional dynomite percussion on a good day. i stayed home because its raining. logggers are up there grinding away... regardless of what your political views are, its hard not to admire their work ethic. views from home are effected, but then my home was likely built from the same trees... not really, it all is stamped canadian, which is kind of funny. taking coal to....

Well it is a renewable resource. I Have personally had loggers in my family and know it is a very hard and demanding job. While I do see the need for logging there is also a limit when you see Weycos large logging units instead of small parcels at a time. That tract by Index keeps getting larger and larger. It seems I recall some kind of resistance to the one up by Wallace falls. Thing is Weyco seems to be in the land selling business also as many of their units near Skykomish have for sale signs on them. Bain seems to be their realtor of choice.

i seen a sweet piece of property for sale on 6517. looks like heaven. dont recall the realtor, but you probably know the one. a thin strip of trees on a steep slope sandwiched between 2 clearcuts. you might be able to put a tiny house on stilts.. i agree. love the logger, question the cut. i think some recent threats of logging, quarrying, erecting fences and locking gates is just a bit of scare tactic land offloading at a premium... not exclusive to timber companies. index wall was gonna be building blocks, they where gonna fence off the pct, heybrook ridge, etc etc..
