I use a plastic insulated cup with a snap on lid I got free at a Texaco station 20 years ago. It's light stable and effective (keeps coffee hot for a pretty long time). I visit the coffee cup section at REI periodically and (amazingly) I have not seen anything that appears any better for the weight. Which seems crazy in this location, day and age. Be interested in knowing what other folks use. Mine weighs 4 oz. Not willing to sacrifice performance or weight.

Great minds think alike. Tried the exact approach and a couple variations. Light, but easy to crush and not as good thermally- I think due to heat loss through the lid.

I picked up this reusable coffee cup at Starbucks a while back for $1. Weighs in at 1.6 oz. I actually use it as my daily coffee cup. Not sure if it meets your insulation needs but keeps my coffee reasonably warm and it won't crush in your pack.

I use the JetBoil pot (5.2oz) that I heated the water in. Total extra weight 0oz, and it has a thin neoprene cozy to keep it hot. I use Starbucks Italian Roast Via, which is my favorite "instant" coffee.

I go to the gym religiously.... Christmas and Easter I love sports-bars. Because they collect all the people I don't want to hang out with and put them in one room.

The plastic cover for the heat exchanger on Jetboils works pretty well for a cup also.

System..... wtf? What a nimrod. What a maroon. embarassedlaugh.gif I have a plastic thermo cup I bought at the Red Apple in Concrete about 15 years ago for a buck 99. It's cracked here and there, so it isn't very thermo, and I promptly lost the lid right after I bought it, but it works just fine. I thought about trying that coffee cup... system..... of yours (Tom had mentioned it years ago), but knowing how I operate, I figured the cup would get crushed, so I nixed that idea. nothing better than a cuppa joe in the mountains or on the coast or camped on the Taos River with dad...

I could go back to sprinkling coffee grounds on my bagel system or just chewing on them. If you're interested in saving weight, do that & leave the stove system at your home system.

Sheesh. My intellect is wasted here. rolleyes.gif I guess if you’re missing a few front teeth getting grounds caught isn’t a problem.

I never thought of myself as a "purist" when it comes to coffee, but drinking java out of a plastic cup just seems ... yuck. Ski's cup looks like one of those coated metal ones - that's what I use. I guess I drink too quickly for insulation to be much of a concern.

It's a good thing I wasn't drinking coffee when I read this - it would have ended up all over. As it was, my cat gave my the look for disturbing the peace. I have a lightweight red plastic cup. Red is important. I figure drinking out of plastic is likely less harmful than other things I eat (or drink).

When I grow up I wanna play.
