Missing / Possibly Endangered Gavin J. Johnston 28 years old Gavin was last heard from on 10-18-18. He told his father he wanted to hike the Pacific Crest Trail for the next two months. His vehicle was found at the summit of Stevens Pass ( North side of highway) . It is believed he is not experienced and does not have adequate gear for the conditions. If you’ve seen or heard from Gavin, please contact Rivercom at 509-663-9911

He's starting PCT hike now? If so, that is an odd time to begin a thru hike.

Someone at Washington Hikers and Climbers reported seeing Gavin on the PCT and calling the Rivercom number but the dispatcher didn't have any information on Gavin Johnston. Should they call SCSO?

If anyone sees Gavin, call the Chelan County Sheriff. Their business number is 509-667-6851. Mike McLeod is in charge of the case.

This morning on Wa Hikers & Climbers:
Quote:
Isaac Simmons This is my step brother. For those who are wondering if it is real as Mike said it is. We are worried and if anyone sees him please first contact the sherrifs office but if your looking to contact family directly as well you can message me and I will connect you to his family. Please keep an eye out and he was last seen by Snoqualmie his car is at Stevens and it is unknown if he got a ride to Snoqualmie and is walking towards Stevens or if he hiked the other way. Family will organize and respond quickly to go to him with a location all it takes is one more sighting to figure out direction of travel so you can make the difference.

Holy crap that's an untapped market right there. Thru Hike Section Searchers. Quick pass for easy injuries and rescues, not real SAR stuff, just bolt through and ask everyone you pass, keep your eyes peeled and report to the heavy hitters.

I read he was not an experienced hiker and did not pack any food. Just what I read.

One of the posters was put up at the road fork leading down to Goldmyer. I think this is a good way to get the word out to people that might have actually seen him.

He's making the news now. This includes what has been posted in the original facebook post. NCW News

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

There are still no reported sightings of Gavin other than a possible one 10/18 on Kendall Katwalk. It's not known which direction he was heading.
