The ridge east of Packwood Lake (between the lake and White Pass) reaches a high point at unnamed Peak 6754. It's a seldom-visited summit with nice views of the Goat Rocks and Rainier, and it's the 254th highest peak in the state with 1000 ft of prominence. For me that was enough to warrant a visit this fine fall weekend. It's about 20 miles round-trip and 4000 ft of gain from the Packwood Lake trailhead, but the first 4.5 miles to the lake are an easy and fun bike ride on the Pipeline Trail, paring it down to a very reasonable day hike. The bike ride took me a half hour, and then I started up the well-maintained trail to Mosquito Lake (not very mosquito-y this time of year) and on to where the trail passed through a basin NW of the summit (nice campsite with running water). From there the final 1000 was an easy ramble up to the ridge W of the summit, a traverse right across loose talus, and a bit of class 3-ish scrambling on unstable rock to the top. Car-to-car 7.5 hrs. Never saw anyone after Packwood Lake, and saw no sign of human visitation anywhere after leaving the trail.
Pt 6754 from basin to the NE W ridge to Pt 6754 Final summit scramble to 6754 Goat Rocks Ascent basin

Cool! I was up there that same day, hiking with some family members who were camping just east of the outlet on an elevated camp site. I saw your bike. Couldn't believe it was tshirt weather up there! Gorgeous day...

Looks nice up there. The bike sounds like a good way to make it a reasonable day trip.

Great hybrid of heavily traveled trail to the truly obscure, with easy access, and views.
Cool.
Best.

Thanks for the report, Martin. One of these days I'll have to check this one off the list.

Pipeline Trail is open to motorized use too.
With an e-bike, getting to Lost Lake becomes a moderate day-hike.
