It rained pretty good last night so it might be over. I welcomed the rain, it's been very dry here and we've had some brush fires in the area.

I now live in Minnesota. I was about to turn on my street, looked to the right, and saw a row of tamaracks (as we call them out here). Not nearly as brilliant as they were up in the Methow, but it was still wonderful to see them. Smoky gold, as Sigurd Olson refers to them.

I rode up and down Loup Loup from Okanagan today. Still plenty of yellow larches on this side, beyond prime but still pretty. No snow in sight.
I'm planning to ride over Sherman Pass tomorrow. The DOT webcam shows snow (but the road is bare) and a yellow larch.
A couple days of moderately strong wind since these pics were taken probably means an end to larch season in Central Oregon. The good news is I only have to drive 7 miles to get to my larch hike.
