There well be slides from our work on the PCT plus some thoughts on plans for the future. Come on out and meet the PCTA crew.
Bump.
Today.
Come and hear about one of our projects this season - the replacement bridge over Bridge Creek just south of the North Cascades Highway. We'll also talk other 2018 accomplishments, plus what we have in store for 2019.
The 2018 maintenance season is wrapping up. I'm sure we'll have a couple more Stewards out before the trail is totally snow bound for the year. For those that didn't make the Social over the weekend, here are a few snippets:
9083 hours volunteered by over 455 participants in 2018.
68 miles maintained.
~35 miles logged out*.
Over 10 miles brushed.
Key feeder trails to the PCT worked on include the Suiattle, North Fork Sauk, Smithbook and Stirrup Lake.
Projects that literally span our entire area from the Canadian Border (new monument) to Chinook Pass / Highway 410 in the south.
22 different crew leaders.
1 new bridge.
16 training events with 146 participants.
And most important - zero injuries.
Thank you volunteers. You are the ones who accomplished these great feats for the trail.
* - doesn't really reflect how many PCT miles are clear as we have an active Steward / Scouting program and only send saw crews to known logs down. Miles reflect a sum of "first log to last log" distances on saw crews, not actual clear miles. Example, from Wilderness boundary north of Snoqualmie Pass to a bit south of Pyramid Peak near Government Meadows was cleared, around 40 trail miles.
