This mountain is in really great shape right now! We just barely got a Subaru with new winter tires to the trail head. There is about 1 foot of snow on the road at this elevation but the ruts were packed down by some 4x4 use presumably the previous day. There was no boot path through the woods so it took a bit of work to get in to the base of the climb. Highly recommended to hit it now if you've been wanting to get this one in the early snow season. If you like extended time side-hilling on steep snow ledges with lethal runout and little chance of arrest this mountain is for you! We both used one alpine axe + one ice tool. We simulclimbed the last 100 meters to the summit with a few cams and a piton. The crux is descending down into the gulley just moments before reaching the summit. I would not want to do this unroped. The descent off the mountain was not as bad as I expected, everything is a fairly easy exit with no rappels needed. With thinner snow cover this would be significantly more difficult.

Well that is interesting. I scrambled it once when dry and found it unpleasant with hard and ball bearing like surfaces. Looks like a fair amount of snow. How much snow do you think there is at 6000' and then at the summit?

Great pics! They really capture the conditions. I was almost able to smell the crisp snow. Thanks for posting.

It's really hard to say, down at the base of the route just under 6000ft there was probably a bit over a foot. Above that it's all drifted, wind scoured, etc. due to the rugged terrain so it ranges from 0" to many feet.

This is a great action shot. Excellent lighting and composition. I like the shadow that shows his face otherwise hidden. ~z

Sorry, a little confused. What route did you do (ie, what are these pictures of)?

The standard and easiest route. Same route typically used during snow-free months.

Those steep ledgy areas look pretty scary to me. I'm glad you went prepared.
