The Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum's Facebook page posted this photo with the caption "3rd Outlet Lake with Cabin. September 17, 1898. Gove Collection."
Any ideas what lake this is? I wonder what the 1st and 2nd "outlets" are.

Ok. After mulling over SVHM's pic for a couple months, I'm ready to take a stab at it. The etching on the emulsion side of the film says outlet 3rd lake. Between the cabin on the far side and the two guys standing on the lake shore on the near side, it's not a very big lake.

I believe it's the outlet of L Paradise, which is the lowest of three lakes, has a curved shoreline to the outlet, has a rock outcropping up the hill from the outlet, had known mining activity in the late 1800's. Even the unremarkable ridge across the valley seems in line.

After looking carefully I agree with you. I don't know how you did that, but thanks! Even the talus patterns on the valley wall in the background match up pretty well. It also makes sense because this is in the general area of North Bend. It would be fun to confirm this by visiting the lake and trying to reproduce the photo. The old cabin remains should be visible too.

DON'T name these lakes, they are SEEKRIT! cool.gif

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I'd be shocked if there aren't dozens here on site that have looked down on this NC lake from the ridgetop behind.

Ah, the slope N of the pass just SE of Honeymoon Hump? Seems right.

Makes sense. Gawd, I'm so bad at this game. I've been both places, seen both lakes, but would never have thought to guess those locations.
