Monadnock  is one that for whatever reason I  never went up in NH. Cool snow and rock texture.

Another from the edge of the Great Salt Lake. Looking across toward one of those military test-and-drill "ranges" that dot the desolate parts of UT/NV etc.

Nice driveway view, BPJ!

Here's yet another from my recent foray to the SW... this  one from Snow Canyon State Park near St George, which has some very  nice crossbedded sandstone formations as well as some cool  lava intermixed here and there (the  latter isn't shown in this shot though).

Another day, another picture of Snow Canyon SP  in UT. This time  of one of the  so-called "petrified dunes" - 180-190 million year old Navajo sandstone surrounded by 1,000-10,000 year old lava flow.

Very cool joker!  up.gif   Years ago I spent about a week in St. George w/ my family.  We only briefly visited Snow Canyon SP, I was impressed.  Hidden gem that is overlooked because of nearby National Parks.

Yeah - the locals seem to know  all about  its goodness - it was busy leading into  Veteran's Day weekend!! There's other nearby stuff I'd like  to check  out next time I hit that corner of UT, including some crazy candy-colored cross-bedded sandstone formations.

Here's one more, looking out to and beyond the bottom of Snow Canyon.

Nice - from  that trip  that keeps on yielding shots, I presume?

Sometimes it's the  smaller details that make the best shots - a reminder to self that  I should l look  down more often!

A shoutout to Don Graydon, a fellow alum of the Seattle P-I and member of the Usual Suspects. This evening we celebrated his 80th birthday. His 2018 stats: 536 miles hiked, 174,580 feet of vertical.
